About Us

Founded by Gary Barnett, Extell is represented by world class architects and industry professionals who together create properties distinguished by sophisticated design, efficient floor plans and first class amenities.

Extell’s impressive residential portfolio includes The Avery and The Rushmore, the first of several residential buildings planned for Riverside South, a vibrant new neighborhood that fronts a 21-acre park stretching along the Hudson River; 535 West End Avenue, Extell’s 21st Century pre-war residence; the Lucida, a new vision for modern green living on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Ariel East and West, two exquisite glass towers in the West 90’s; and the Orion, one of Manhattan’s tallest residential buildings.

Extell has restored and updated a number of classics in some of Manhattan’s most celebrated landmark neighborhoods, including the master renovation of The Stanhope at 995 Fifth Avenue; Altair 18 and Altair 20, located in the historic Ladies Mile downtown district; 31 West 11 Street in the heart of Greenwich Village and The Belnord, a landmark, residential building on the Upper West Side.

Significant commercial developments include the W Times Square hotel in New York City, Boston’s InterContinental Hotel and Residences and the $200 million redevelopment of Chicago’s Insurance Exchange, for which Extell earned the 2002 Chicago Development of the Year award.
